Cat Verbal / English section

Day 1

Today i am going to tell you about the world's toughest MBA entrance exam, yes you guessed it right -The one and only CAT exam! As all of us or most of us know that the CAT asks questions on Quant , Data Interpretation and English (mind it it's not Hinglish).

Well i am going to teach you guys English or Verbal section (as most of the engineers call it a verbal section ) of CAT. So today lets begin with what study material or in simple language books one should carry for CAT English.  I am categorising the books based on mandatory and reference based books.

If one has more than two years for the preparation of CAT then one should begin with the following books.

1. Wren and Martin English grammar (Easily available everywhere)
2. How to read better and faster by Norman Lewis (Though many of them say CAT doesn't require fast speed still a debatable question still one can try and read it)
3. Improve your reading by Ron Fry (i never used)
4. Advanced Grammar in use by Martin Hewings (real good one you can try getting it in Cambridge Press Publication)
5. GMAT official guide ( as far as critical reasoning and sentence correction is concerned very useful )
6. Critical reasoning bManhattan GMAT Prep (same for reading comprehension and sentence correction)
7. Arun Sharma English and Verbal for CAT
8. English Usage by Arihant Publication
9. Objective English Pearson Publication

And of course some novels.
